To enable international students to deeply experience the charm of traditional Chinese Spring Festival culture and enhance their safety awareness and self-protection capabilities while spending the holiday in China, the Foreign Students Administration Office of the School of Foreign Languages recently held the 2026 Spring Festival Cultural Experience and Holiday Safety Education Activity for international students. Dozens of students from various countries gathered together to immerse themselves in traditional Chinese New Year customs—making dumplings, writing couplets, and cutting paper-cuts—amid laughter and joy, while consolidating the safety defense line for the festive season.
At the beginning of the activity, teachers from the Foreign Students Administration Office delivered a concise and practical safety education lecture tailored to the characteristics of the Spring Festival holiday. The lecture focused on key contents such as travel safety, property safety, and emergency response procedures during the festival. Teachers reminded students to guard against telecom fraud, keep their personal belongings safe, and helped them fully grasp safety knowledge, laying a solid foundation for a peaceful holiday.

After the safety education session, the fun Spring Festival cultural experience officially kicked off. At the dumpling-making station, volunteers prepared flour, fillings and other ingredients and tools in advance, and taught international students hand-in-hand how to wrap dumplings. The international students followed along with great enthusiasm; although the dumplings they made came in various cute shapes, every student wore a look of dedication and delight.

The couplet-writing and paper-cutting areas were equally bustling. At the couplet station, international students picked up writing brushes one after another and tried writing simple couplets under the guidance of teachers, showing curiosity and affection for traditional Chinese culture in every stroke. At the paper-cutting station, students operated carefully, and lovely patterns gradually took shape as scissors opened and closed. Everyone showed off their works to each other, filling the venue with cheerful laughter.

At the end of the activity, everyone tasted the dumplings made by their own hands and shared holiday customs from their home countries, creating a warm and harmonious atmosphere. This activity integrated safety education with cultural experience. It not only allowed international students to feel the unique charm of Chinese Spring Festival culture through immersive experience, deepening their understanding and recognition of China, but also effectively improved their safety awareness and self-protection capabilities.
